Born in 1971 in Montréal, where she lives and works, Emmanuelle Léonard holds a B.A.from Concordia University and an M.A from Université du Québec à Montréal. Her credits include numerous solo and groups exhibitions at venues such as Musée d’art
contemporain de Montréal, Kunsthaus Dresden and Neuer Berliner Kuntsverein (Germany), Optica and VOX, Contemporary Image Centre (Montréal), Mercer Union Gallery (Toronto), Glassbox (Paris), Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, and L’CEll de poisson (Quebec City). She has had residencies at Villa Arson (2002, Nice, France), the Christoph Merian Foundation (2006. Basel, Switzerland) and the Finnish Artists’ Studio Fondation (2009, Espoo, Finland). Emmanuelle Léonard is the racioient of the 2005 Pierre-Ayot Prize.
