Jean-Pierre Aubé SATELLITES

Jean-Pierre Aubé SATELLITES

This booklet was published by EXPRESSION, Centre d’exposition de Saint-Hyacinthe, for the exhibition Jean-Pierre Aubé. SATELLITES, presented at EXPRESSION from May 23 to August 9, 2015.

After studying in sculpture and photography at Concordia University, Jean-Pierre Aubé completed a MFA at Université du Québec à Montréal. His interdisciplinary approach (sound performance, media arts, installation, photo) borrows from science, notably in the area of data collecting practices. In this perspective, he builds VLF Hertzian wave receivers capable of recording extremely low-frequency sounds of natural phenomena (electrical storms, aurora borealis, solar wind). In Aubé’s work, his passion for, and inspiration from the complexity of the material world transcends the technical means used. Aubé’s work has been shown in numerous events and exhibitions both in Québec and abroad.
